Is this Duke’s Year?

Duke basketball has been outstanding so far this season with the freshman prodigy, Marvin Bagley III. Bagley and Duke have been on a roll as they are now 11-0 on the season. Don’t forget, Duke is also being helped by Grayson Allen who has been having quite the senior season on the offense and defense side of the ball as he is averaging 17.5 points per game for the Blue Devils.

Bagley and Allen aren’t just the main reason why Duke is so successful this season and undefeated though. They’re also helped by the 6’10 freshman Wendell Carter Jr. who is averaging 12.8 points per game and recording 8.9 rebounds as well.

Being a UNC fan it kills me to say that I believe Duke has a very good shot this season at winning the National Championship because of their outstanding freshman class and senior guard, Grayson Allen. It would be an amazing season for Duke basketball if they could bring home the championship again for the second time in just four years coupled with Coach K winning his 1,000th game this season as well.

The only team I can see beating Duke this year would have to be Michigan St. who is led by sophomore sensation Miles Bridges who is averaging 15.4 points per game and 6.4 rebounds a game. These two powerhouses have already met up early in the season with Duke beating Spartans 88-81.

I still think Duke has the much better team though as Bagley looks like he is NBA ready already because of his 21.9 points per game and 11.2 rebounds. Bagley and Allen are the two to concentrate on as the season progresses for Duke.If either Allen or Bagley were to get injured, then this could easily set Duke back and cost them a chance at winning it this year.

It’s going to be interesting for Duke fans as they move forward with the season and still have some challenges along the way as they still have to face Syracuse, Notre Dame, Miami, and their rival North Carolina later on in the season.
